Opalite, sometimes called argenon, is a synthetic glass that has been treated so it exhibits the same kind of opalescence or adularescence as opal and moonstone, and it will appear blue against dark backgrounds or white with an orange or pink glow against lighter backgrounds. While natural opalite does exist, it is usually called common opal and is green or purple.
