Vanadinite is a secondary mineral, meaning that a chemical process turns one mineral into vanadinite.  Because of this, it is more uncommon than most minerals and is found in the oxidized zones of lead-bearing deposits.  It can be found worldwide in over 400 mines and vary in color from red, orange-red, red-brown, brown, yellow, whitish, grey, and even colorless. It is a very brittle and delicate, so please be careful handling it.
