Fuchsite is a special variety of the mineral muscovite, where chromium atoms have slowly replaced the natural aluminum in muscovite's molecular structure. This resulting soft green mineral was named to commemorate Johann Nepomuk von Fuchs, a German mineralogist.

Rubies are one of two varieties of the aluminum oxide mineral corundum. Rarer than sapphire, ruby corundum contains large amounts of chromium in its crystalline structure. Ruby is considered one of the traditional "Big 4" gemstones along with diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires, and has been used in jewelry and carvings for thousands of years.
