Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony that forms inside pockets of metamorphic and volcanic rock, with the initial layer that forms and the surrounding minerals and conditions affecting subsequent layers and giving agate its wide variation in appearance. Turritella agate's unique appearance comes from the inclusion of snail fossils in the stone.

Lovely Turitella Agate

This was the first time I saw this kind of agate; they're very pretty pieces. Well worth the price in my opinion, my clients will love them.
