Bismuth is a brittle, crystalline, and iridescent metal known for its unique, stair-step-like crystal structure and striking colors. Due to its oxide layer, bismuth ranges from silvery white to a mix of pink, yellow, blue, and green hues. Due to the rarity of natural bismuth crystals, bismuth is typically created artificially. It's one of the few materials that expands as it freezes and has a relatively low melting point. Bismuth is a by-product of refining lead, copper, tin, silver, and gold ores.
